Alcohol robbery has been an issue for global brands that want to penetrate new markets in developing countries.
Millions of dollars are lost in supermarkets and convenience stores.
We were asked to design a low cost device that can tackle this problem for @diageo brands in collaboration with @sensormatic
A plastic lock fits on the "shoulders" of the bottle which covers the rim of the cap so it can't be removed with a lever. It has a housing in the back where a proximity sensor can be fitted in order to track the product inside the store.
The lock works as a token that can be returned to the store as credit so it can be reused again. It is made from biodegradable plastic with an accelerating decomposition additive in order to close the cycle.
The acoustic-magnetic HBC sensor can be removed in the process.
The shape of the piece doesn't affect stackability or retail display arrangements.
